Materials & Provenance
“The work begins in the materials.”
We do not write much about how the work is made. We prefer that the work speak for itself, and that those who ask about it find specifics rather than abstractions. This page is for those who ask. It names the regions, the farms, the tannery, and the certifications behind the materials we use, with the documentation to support each claim.
Certifications appear here as verification, not as marketing. Where the work is not yet certified to a standard we intend to meet, we say so. The rest of the catalogue follows from the materials, and the materials follow from the people who select and prepare them.
The Leather
Our lambskin, sheepskin, and shearling are sourced principally from Pakistan — from a tannery that has held Leather Working Group Gold certification since 2018. Pakistan’s tradition of leatherwork runs older than the partition of 1947; the country today is among the world’s principal producers of premium hide. We chose this tannery specifically — not the more expected European partners — because the lambskin its workers produce carries a particular weight and a particular hand after curing: supple without thinness, with an aging behaviour that deepens rather than degrades over years of wear.
The Calais bucket and the Marlowe bucket are made from this lambskin. The Verity Supreme line draws from a small reserve of shearling and sheepskin sourced from this tannery and from selected partners in other regions where the work meets the standard we hold.
Each hide is hand-selected before it is released to our cutters. The selection is made by individuals whose names travel with the records of each piece. The LWG Gold rating verifies that the tannery meets the highest standard in the industry for water management, chemical controls, traceability of raw material, and overall environmental performance.
The Cotton
Our cotton is hand-picked in the Multan region of Pakistan, on farms certified to the Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS). Multan is one of the world’s premier cotton-growing regions, long recognised by textile mills for the qualities of its harvest:
- finer fibres
- softer hand feel
- stronger premium-textile suitability
The hand-picked harvest matters. It produces a longer, less broken fibre than machine-picked alternatives — which is what makes the finished garment feel the way it does when it reaches the customer. The cotton then moves from the farm to a mill we have worked with for several seasons. The 480gsm loopback used in the Vibe Cut Crop hoodie is woven on this mill’s heavyweight looms; the equivalent weights in the Truth Seeker and Elite Luxe lines come from the same source.
The garment-dye process uses certified low-impact dyes. The finished product carries OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 certification, which verifies chemical safety down to the level of components in contact with the skin. The full supply chain carries OEKO-TEX® MADE IN GREEN, which combines the Standard 100 chemical criteria with environmental and social standards across production. The organic claim is covered end-to-end by GOTS, from field to finished good.
The Atelier & the Hand
The atelier is where the materials become the work. Pattern-cutting is done by hand, by people who have done the work long enough to know the difference between a pattern and a finished garment. Finishing — the press, the seam, the lining, the label — happens the same way: by hand, by people, in lead times that the work actually requires.
The Atelier outerwear — Maximus, Jeanne d’Arc, and the forthcoming Bridge tier — take several days per piece. The lambskin accessories take numerous hours. We do not compress these times. The work is what the time produces.
The lead time is also why our calendar is what it is. We open pre-book windows months in advance so that production has the room to do its work without compromise. Our Atelier customers are accustomed to waiting for what they have ordered. Our lambskin customers are accustomed to allocations rather than continuous stock. The rest of the catalogue follows from this.
